Natalia Zubizarreta is a well-known interior designer from Spain. Since 2015, she has run her own studio named Natalia Zubizarreta Interiorismo. Lately, she has been in the media a lot for some of her high-profile projects and her general dedication to her clients’ needs. Here, she talks about the influence of her grandmother on her own life and profession.
“I owe my mother and my grandmother a lot, especially my grandmother. I had a rough childhood. My mother was widowed, having lost my father to cancer when I was only eight. So, I sort of became the father of my family. Since then, I have been hardworking. It is something that has characterized my whole life—hard work,” says Zubizarreta. Her grandmother was Argentinian and was an advertising genius who was ahead of her time. “She was complex and very demanding. In fact, she is the one who introduced me to look for aesthetic approval in all the work I did and to make sure to surround myself with beauty whenever I worked,” she adds.
Zubizarreta wished to be surrounded by constant creativity, following her grandmother’s teachings. That’s how she went into interior design, to repair and beautify homes so that the families in them could live happier lives. In 2015, she started her studio, which currently has only seven employees but is considered one of the best firms for interior design in Spain. Her claim-to-fame began in her first year when her studio was given a chance to design the interiors of the summer house of soccer player Fabio Borini in Ibiza.
Her life has been overwhelmingly highlighted and recognized by the media in Spain. She continues to trend in the Basque area for her stylistic and creative takes on the world around us.
