As the year progressed, we realised the importance of frontline workers and their priceless contribution to Mankind. Where doctors, nurses, bankers and many more sectors established themselves as the saviour of humanity, there is one force that never got its credit, The police force.
Standing in the heat of the sun for 24 hours ensuring that people stay indoors wasn’t an easy task. We all can agree that most of us were home because somewhere we knew that the cops would stop us and that fear worked to our advantage. Today almost a year after the pandemic and gazillion pleas by the police force, the police have now decided to go ALL GUNS BLAZING. In our recent interaction with Police Inspector Vijay Chavan from Miraroad Kanakia police station, He highlighted certain things the world needs to know today. Inspector Chavan said, “People think we stop them to gain some profits out of them, they don’t understand that we dont want them to step out for their own good”. The situation in Maharashtra is far beyond worse at the current time given the devastation caused by the second wave of the virus, during such times, it’s our moral responsibility to ensure that we don’t step out and maintain social distancing. However, expecting people to comprehend rules and act upon it can get difficult at times and hence the Mira-bhayander police department came up with a genius idea, Now the cops don’t stop you anymore, they have make shift labs and an MBMC bus as an ambulance situated at NakaBandis. The cops have now decided to take the higher route and check anyone for Covid 19 on the streets. If tested positive, One is requested to sit in the bus and escorted to the nearest govt facility.
Inspector Chavan proudly boasts about this move and takes immense pride in it. He said “People are not scared of fines/Penalties anymore, They are scared of testing”.Capitalising on the same plan, Inspector Chavan further adds “To sit at home, people need to fear something, Covid cases dont scare them much but getting tested every time they step out, certainly does”. This bold move by the police has earned them several praises from the people in the vicinity and the media. while the heath workers are ensuring that we are safe and taken care off, the cops are now ensuring our safety in all new fashion,I guess now every person knows what it means when we say “AAYA POLICE”.
